- The purpose of the Health/AI Program is to create an enabling environment for innovation in the field of health through the development and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions to improve the health of citizens
The nephrologist at Parc Taulí and researcher at the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) Jose Ibeas has been named director of the Program for the promotion and development of artificial intelligence in the health system (Health/AI program).
Ibeas has a long and reputable track record in the field of AI in health, in which the direction of the I Taulí Health Artificial Intelligence Symposium 'THAIS' - which will celebrate a new edition on June 19 and 20 this year -, and the co-direction of Master in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Health of the I3PT and the School of Engineering of the UAB. He is also the principal investigator of the research group in clinical, interventional and computational nephrology (CICN) of the I3PT and of the joint unit of Research Kidney4all of the Institute and the UAB.
The purpose of the Health/AI Program, created in March 2023 by the Ministry of Health, is to creation of an enabling environment for innovation in the field of health through the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for improving the health of citizens, which prioritizes prevention, leads the implementation of AI solutions and contributes to the improvement of the quality of care and the sustainability of the health system, valuing the knowledge generated by the Comprehensive Public Health System of Catalonia (SISCAT) .
The governance of the Health/AI Program is made up of a Steering Committee, an Executive Committee and the Program Management. The members of the three bodies are senior representatives of the Department of Health, the Catalan Health Service, the Strategic Management of the Departmental Commission for Innovation and Transformation of the Health System, the General Coordination of ICT in the health system, the 'Health Quality and Assessment Agency (AQuAS) and the ICT Social Health Foundation.
