- The presentation of this publication is an exercise in transparency to disseminate in an orderly manner the results and the main milestones achieved by the Institute during the year 2023
The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) has published the Scientific Report of the year 2023, again in multimedia format to make it more accessible, more sustainable and more open to the world.
This document collects and summarizes all the Institute's scientific, innovative and teaching activity during the year, which was marked, above all, by the achievement of a strategic milestone: the I3PT received accreditation from the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación as a Health Research Institute. This is one of the most prestigious accreditations granted to health research entities, and a recognition of the excellence of our scientific results and the positive impact in the healthcare, social and economic fields of our research and innovation .
As for the results obtained during the exercise, they were published 457 scientific articles, of which 255 were placed in Q1 and 120 in D1. This represents a considerable increase compared to the figures obtained in 2022 and shows the growth and the qualitative improvement of our research activity. The indicators also show very positive results in relation to the competitive projects achieved, which were increased to 38, as well as our innovation unit, which captured 71 innovative ideas for future innovation projects and recorded 18 new patents.
In 2023, the I3PT strengthened its research with the creation of two new groups: the first, focused on hemodynamics, microcirculation and tissue oxygenation in critical patients; and the second, focused on the maternal-fetal medicine study. It also incorporated the spin-off Heecap, in collaboration with Vall d'Hebron, which is developing a non-invasive electrostimulation system to prevent muscle atrophy in mechanically ventilated patients in ICUs, an innovation that will significantly improve care for critically ill patients.
The Report also presents, as always, all the results and main milestones achieved by the Institute throughout 2023, such as the figures of its overall research activity and from each of its research areas, or the data of theinnovation activity, teaching, of the platforms and services, economic, and from communication.
