- QuirofAI, a project by the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park to incorporate technological innovation such as AI into the surgical process, was the winner
This Friday, Parc Taulí celebrated the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of BRING_IT, the incubation program organized by the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT), with the support of the ITEMAS platform, for encourage i support innovation projects in health and biomedicine.
For three months, eight proposals promoted by professionals from units associated with ITEMAS have passed the program phases –detection of the unmet need and development of the idea– to end up being presented to the public and a jury formed by professionals from prominent institutions in technology and medical research. All of them will have the option of joining the portfolio of the I3PT Innovation Unit and will receive support so that, once the edition is over, they can continue to advance autonomously.
Despite the high level of all the proposals presented – as highlighted by the jury – it was ultimately QuirofAI, a project by the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park to incorporate technological innovation such as AI into the surgical process, the winner of this edition. Caridad E. Torrens, assistant to the director of the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park, was in charge of defending the project before the jury.

“BRING_IT has given us a lot. It has allowed us to analyze the competition in depth, interview key agents, work as a team and discover aspects that we had not initially considered,” said Torrens.
"We have been working on this project for almost two years, defining the best strategy and looking for the right collaborators. It is a necessary initiative for patients and professionals, and this award recognizes all this dedication," he celebrated. Over the next year, QuirofAI will receive specialized and personalized support from the I3PT Innovation Unit to help drive its development and facilitate its implementation in the healthcare sector..
One of the keys to BRING_IT's success is its structure based on two methodologies recognized in the business sector: the LEAN methodology, oriented towards process optimization and value creation; and the CIMIT methodology from Boston, adapted by the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technologies (CIMTI) in Catalonia, which promotes innovation in medicine and health technologies.
"BRING_IT is a very useful support tool for taking innovative ideas forward. It provides researchers with the essential training and resources to ensure that some of the projects can end up reaching patients, using methodologies recognized in the business and entrepreneurship field," explained Martín León, head of the Innovation Unit at I3PT,
The success of the day highlights the Institute's commitment to innovation and the desire to continue promoting the transfer of knowledge to the market to promote the well-being of society through programs such as BRING_IT.
"I share with the program the passion for turning the intangible into tangible, and ideas into solutions. This is what drives us because we want what we do to have a real impact on people's health," concluded Salvador Ventura, director of the I3PT.
