The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) has obtained two grants in the 2024 call for nursing intensification within the framework of the Strategic Plan for Health Research and Innovation (PERIS) 2022-2027This funding allows nurses to dedicate themselves fully to research for two years, thanks to the hiring or appointment of substitute personnel who will take on their care tasks.
The purpose is to increase the critical mass of nurses dedicated to research for advancing nursing knowledge, transferring results to daily clinical practice and significantly improving patient careThrough these resources, healthcare processes can be redefined, new professional roles can be incorporated and innovative interventions can be developed that not only contribute to the efficiency of the healthcare system, but also improve the quality of life of patients, giving greater visibility and value to the nursing profession.
The grants will fund projects led by nurses Eva Ángeles Sánchez Martos i Pilar Costa Gil, researchers from the nursing research group of the I3PT.
Strategies for providing family care from a gender perspective in Home Hospitalization
Eva Àngels Sánchez leads a project that explores family care provision strategies in the context of Home Hospitalization, integrating a gender perspective. Her work has involved 10 hospitals in Catalonia and has collected data from 417 patients and more than 3.400 chronic treatments.
The results show that implementing nurse-led educational programs can improve adherence to chronic treatments by up to 20%. This research has contributed to designing programs that prioritize education in treatment management, with an impact that is already beginning to be implemented at a national level.
Validation of an obstetric and gynecological triage scale for its adaptation to the Structured Triage System-SET
For her part, Pilar Costa is working on the validation of an obstetric and gynecological triage scale adapted to the SET. Currently, clinical triage systems are validated for adults and pediatrics, but they do not have specific tools for obstetric emergencies.
This project aims to ensure better classification and prioritization of emergencies in pregnant women, including specific reasons for consultation such as fetal status or postpartum complications, key aspects for safety and quality of care.
