
I3PT opens new laboratories and experimental research spaces

- The second phase of construction of the new research and innovation building at Parc Taulí is completed
The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) has inaugurated the second wing of the I3PT building with spaces dedicated exclusively to experimental biomedical research.
With this new milestone, the Institute advances in the consolidation of the construction project for a dedicated research and innovation building intended to promote the scientific, innovative and educational activity of Parc Taulí.
The new research spaces are located on the ground floor of the wing situated at C/ Francesc Izard 2, adjacent to the Gran Via. This area, of 460 m2, hosts since this February a multidisciplinary biomedical research laboratory a microscopy room a freezer room and two cultivation roomsIn these spaces, the scientific and technical servicesand the Biobank In addition, it has three work roomsdesignated for research staff.
In the near future, the facility will also include asmall rodent housing unit with a versatil research and training operating room.
The other wing of the building, located opposite Sabadell’s iconic Torre de l’Aigua, will continue to host management and research support activities, along with the signal, 3D and simulation laboratories, and the research of groups that do not require experimental laboratories. This wing —operating since September 2022— has a constructed area of 1.206 m2 distributed over three floors.
The overall project will be completed with the construction of the central part of the building, reaching a total area of 4.000 m.2, with a global investment of 12 million euros.
This new building is a reflection of the I3PT's vision for the future, with state-of-the-art scientific and technological laboratories, and with spaces designed to foster a innovative cultureamong the staff of Parc Taulí. The new facilities are designed to promote excellence, generation of new ideas, collaborationand the talent attraction, as well as the creation of spin-offsIn addition, the building reinforces the Institute's commitment to citizen participation and collaboration with the regional business sector.
