More from forty professionals from thirteen healthcare services at Parc Taulí have participated in the second edition of GENES_IT, the program of the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) designed with the aim of establishing the foundations for the development of new health innovation projects.
All teams*, following the recognized methodology Stanford BIODESIGN, have identified real needs not covered in their respective services i have worked with the Institute Innovation Unit to transform them into innovative solutions with potential to improve healthcare circuits and processes in the healthcare field.
After months of work, each of these proposals has finally seen the light of day. (Demo Day —an event in which participants in an innovation program present their projects—held on Friday at Parc Taulí. Gemma Craywinckel, general director of Parc Taulí, has highlighted the relevance of this type of initiative led by healthcare professionals themselves in transforming institutions.
For things to happen, you have to be present, detect the need and work to provide a solution. And this can only be done by those who are in front of the user and think about how we can improve or do differently what we do now.”
For his part, Salvador Ventura, director of the I3PT, was proud of the work carried out by all the teams and pointed out that this is the direction that research institutes should take: “We have been promoting this entrepreneurial ecosystem for years, which connects research, innovation and real impact."The result is seen in events like today, where the talent, vision and commitment of the teams come together to turn the intangible into tangible."
The event also featured a roundtable where four professionals from Parc Taulí had the opportunity to explain to attendees their experience creating and leading health innovation projects at various degrees of maturity.
GENES_IT is just the first step on a broader path of innovation, where the selected ideas and projects have the potential to continue their development in programs such as BRING_IT i GROW_IT, who are committed to knowledge transfer and real impact on society. “Innovation is meaningless if it does not reach the end user. We work with this premise to ensure that ideas have a direct impact.", he concludes Martin Leon, head of the Innovation Unit of the I3PT.
