- The publication of this document is an exercise in transparency to disseminate in an orderly manner the results and main milestones achieved by the I3PT in 2024.
The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) publishes the Scientific Report for the year 2024, again in multimedia format to make it more accessible, more sustainable and more open to the world.
This document collects and synthesizes all the scientific, innovative and teaching activity of the Institute during a year that was marked, above all, by the arrival of a new director: Salvador Ventura took over from Lluís Blanch at the head of the I3PT and began a new stage with the aim of consolidating the growth of the Institute.
2024 was also the year in which the I3PT underwent a new evaluation to renew accreditation as a CERCA center, a process that assesses the quality, impact and innovative capacity of Catalan research centres. This evaluation allowed us to take stock of everything that has been achieved and identify areas for improvement to continue advancing as a leading institute.
One of the most outstanding projects of 2024 was the adaptation of the new experimental biomedical research laboratories, inaugurated at the beginning of 2025These spaces, designed to promote scientific and technological activity, are a key step towards the construction of a dedicated building dedicated to research, innovation and teaching in Parc Taulí.
Other notable milestones of the year were the recognition of the Ethics Committee for Research with Medicines (CEIm) of Parc Taulí, which ranked first in Catalonia and third in Spain in number of clinical trial evaluations, and the promotion of the European HRS4R label, with actions aimed at promoting an excellent, open and inclusive research environment for all professionals at the Institute.
The scientific production in 2024 consolidated the good figures of the previous year. 469 articles were published, of which 56% are in the first quartile (Q1) and almost 24% within the 10% of journals with the highest impact (D1). In addition, 64% of these publications are open access, reinforcing the I3PT's commitment to transparency and accessibility to knowledge.
The I3PT faces the future with the aim of continuing to grow, expanding strategic alliances, incorporating new talent and responding to the challenges posed by science and healthcare. The 2024 Scientific Report is a reflection of this ambition and the institute's commitment to advancing towards quality, innovative research at the service of society.
