The Pit3D project, promoted by the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT), has been distinguished with the award in Best Business Project in the thirteenth edition of the Café Aventura – Sabadell Entrepreneurship Forum, held this Thursday at the Can Roqueta Industrial Business Center. The event, organized by Sabadell City Council with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, brought together emerging projects and companies in their initial stages with high growth potential.
In this new edition, fifteen initiatives —ten start-ups and five projects— had the opportunity to present their objectives and needs to investors, entrepreneurs and professionals in the sector who could be key to the development of their business. Among them, the jury has selected Pit3D as the most outstanding proposal in the business field for its innovative approach and its potential impact on the quality of life of women who have undergone a mastectomy.
"For the entire Pit3D team, receiving this recognition in our territory fills us with pride and validates the work carried out during these years. The financial endowment associated with the award will allow us to move forward with greater strength in the development of the project, always keeping in mind our main objective: improving the quality of life of patients with breast cancer", he stated. Paula Ferrer, project manager by Pit3D.

This award joins other recognitions achieved by Pit3D, which already presented the project at the beginning of the year. 4 Years From Now (4YFN), the leading international event for the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the Mobile World Congress (MWC)The project exemplifies the potential of 3D technology in the healthcare field to offer innovative and personalized solutions that improve patient well-being, and highlights the I3PT's support for innovative projects so that they become solutions that reach the market and benefit the maximum number of people and entities possible.
A personalized solution for breast cancer patients
For five years, Parc Taulí has been working on the development of Pit3D with the aim of designing personalized external breast prostheses, custom-made by the 3D Laboratory at Parc Taulí, for women with breast cancer who have had to undergo a mastectomy.
The conventional external breast prostheses that these patients can use do not adapt properly to the unique morphology of each woman's breast and have limitations in symmetry, comfort, adaptability, weight and breathability. In order to offer a personalized solution that meets these needs, the I3PT —under the impetus of the nurse Àngels Placeres and the 3D Lab— has developed the Pit3D project.
