The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) held the award ceremony this Thursday. 27th edition of the Taulí Grants, intended to recognize, encourage and promote research and innovation among the institution's professionals.

This year, they have been granted 16 scholarships with one total endowment of €130.000, which are in addition to the more than 2,7 million euros awarded since the first edition, in 1999, to projects that have promoted biomedical research and innovation at Parc Taulí. This figure not only highlights the importance of the Taulí Grants within the health research sector in the country, but also reflects the institution's sustained commitment to the development of knowledge and innovation.

"This trajectory says a lot about what Taulí is: an institution that knows how to maintain its commitment to talent and, above all, to the idea that research is not an addition, but a way of understanding healthcare and progress," said the director of the I3PT, Salvador Ventura, in his traditional opening speech.

The president of the Parc Taulí Health Corporation, Dolores Costa, however, recalled that the true value of the grants goes beyond the economic: "They are a window of opportunity to generate impact. They represent the starting point of projects that, in many cases, end up transforming the way we diagnose, treat and support patients."

During the event, it was delivered 9 Research and Innovation Taulí grants — out of a total of 39 submitted — with one endowment of 70.000 euros, as well as 2 Scholarships Step up al Taulí 2025, which have an endowment of 60.000 Euros thanks to the support of Banco Sabadell Foundation, which contributes 45.000 of the total, and which allows professionals to devote part of the healthcare day to research.

Two awards were also given to most outstanding scientific publications of the year, two prizes at best doctoral theses defended by I3PT professionals and a prize for best research project with the participation of UAB Medical students.

One of the highlights of the day was the keynote speech “Theragnosis: from molecular imaging to targeted therapy. The evolution of a specialty”, in charge of Dr. Carlos Artigas, a specialist in nuclear medicine and researcher at the Jules Bordet Institute in Brussels, an international reference center in oncology. In his speech, Artigas reflected on the evolution of theragnosis and its key role in the development of personalized medicine.

The event also included a well-deserved tribute to Dr. Anthony Artigas, researcher in the translational research group in the critical patient. The gloss was written by Dr. Antoni Torres, professor of pulmonology and professor emeritus at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, who highlighted both Artigas' excellent scientific career and his human side, while also emphasizing the luck of having profiles like his.
