A research team from the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) is looking for adult men with fragile X syndrome to participate in a phase II clinical trial. The study aims to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of a new drug with therapeutic potential for this genetic disorder.
The trial is promoted by CONNECTA Therapeutics and is being carried out at I3PT under the direction of principal investigator Ana Roche, co-leader of the group of Genetically Based Neurodevelopmental Disorders, as well as at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute.
Who can participate?
The study is aimed at adult men between the ages of 18 and 45 diagnosed with fragile X syndromeBefore joining the trial, interested individuals will receive all the necessary information about how the study will work from the research team. If they decide to participate, they will be required to sign an informed consent form. Participation is completely voluntary and the trial can be abandoned at any time..
What does the study consist of?
The process begins with an initial hospital visit where all doubts about participation in the trial can be resolved and a complete clinical review will be carried out.
Subsequently, participants will take the research molecule or a placebo, for six weeks, twice a day —after breakfast and after dinner— with a glass of water.
During this period, it will also be necessary to attend several in-person visits to the hospital and respond to follow-up calls from the research team, which will allow monitoring of the evolution and gathering information on the security and the possible effects of treatment.
How to get more information?
