The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) and the Catalan Agency for Quality and Health Assessment (AQuAS) are participating in the European EcoQUIP + project. The aim of the project is, within a framework of innovation public procurement, to find solutions that increase efficiency, quality and environmental sustainability in hospitals.

Pill-it was born from the environmental and clinical need to minimize plastic waste in hospitals. To this end, the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) and the Sabadell School of Design (ESDi) have worked together on the design and development of a container that forms part of the patients' room and which can be easily cleaned, thus eliminating the excessive use of plastic cups.

The work reveals that the data from routine electronic medical records constitute an opportunity to develop and implement tools to support the professional in clinical decision using Artificial Intelligence techniques. At least 46% of people who take their own lives contact primary health care beforehand, according to a study by Parc Taulí published in the journal Archives of Suicide Research. The research has analyzed more than 2.100 cases and of the nearly a thousand people who called for help, 33% died over the next week and 58,5% within a month.
