Institutional organization and administrative structure
The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute Foundation (I3PT) is linked to the Consorci Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí (henceforth, Parc Taulí), who appoints the majority of its members to the Taulí of Trustees. The I3PT it is the entity that manages research, research, innovation and teaching in the scientific and medical training of professionals and, in general, in the development of the knowledge that underpins the care model, and the patronage of Parc Taulí, assuming the functions in terms of development of support and management activities of these, protection and management of the intellectual and/or industrial property of the results obtained, and transfer to the market and society of the same.

Governance bodies
Patronage
The Taulí of Trustees is the governing and administrative body of the Foundation, it represents and manages it, and assumes all the powers and functions necessary to achieve the foundation's goals.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee executes the agreements adopted by the Taulí of Trustees and the functions assigned to it, monitors and facilitates the tasks of the Management and Management of the Foundation.
Management Body
Research and Innovation Management
Appointed by the Taulí of Trustees. It directs, organizes, manages and coordinates the research and innovation activities of the Foundation, to obtain resources, establish internal operating rules, formalize collaborations and carry out the functions expressly entrusted to it by the Taulí of Trustees.

Management Directorate
Appointed by the Taulí of Trustees at the proposal of the Research and Innovation department. He is responsible for the management and correct economic, accounting, financial, administrative and human resources management of the Foundation, in addition to performing the functions expressly entrusted to him by the governing bodies of the Foundation.

Institutional Committee for Research and Innovation (CIRI)
Committee that directly advises the Foundation's Research and Innovation Directorate in the development of its functions.
CIRI members are appointed by the I3PT Management at the proposal of the
CIRI itself, with a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 20 internal members considering the Presidency and the Technical Secretariat. The members of the CIRI belong to the I3PT, having to have representation of the priority areas of the I3PT and to be composed of different types of research profile, including pre-doc staff and clinical staff in residence. The CIRI must include those responsible for innovation, training and quality of the institute.
Scientific Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Scientific Advisory Committee is a consultative and advisory body for the research and innovation activity of the Parc Taulí. It includes people of recognized national and international prestige in the areas of knowledge that are considered essential for the research and innovation in biomedicine that takes place in Parc Taulí.
Innovation Committee (CI)
The Innovation Committee has the function of evaluating and prioritizing the projects of the I3PT, as well as providing support in the revitalization of these projects, and promoting the strategic actions necessary to promote the adoption of technology by of the National Health System. Its main objective is to mark the general strategic lines of industrialization and promote the transfer and adoption of technologies by the National Health System.
Committee on Ethics of Research with Medicines (CEIm)
The Medicines Research Ethics Committee (CEIm) is an independent body with a multidisciplinary composition, whose main purpose is to ensure the protection of the rights, safety and well-being of patients participating in a biomedical research project and provide public assurance on these aspects through an opinion on the relevant documentation of the research project, taking into account the views of the people involved, taking into account, in particular, patients, and/or patient organizations .
Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (CEEA)
Personnel participating in research activities involving animals for experimentation and other scientific or teaching purposes must have the appropriate accreditation as a researcher or experimenter, as appropriate. Likewise, researchers must request and obtain authorization from the UAB's Committee on Ethics in Animal and Human Experimentation for each of the experimental procedures in which animals are used for experimentation and other purposes scientists or teachers.

Quality Committee (QC)
Committee that ensures compliance with the Quality Plan approved by the Taulí of Trustees. It acts as an advisory body to the Management and is made up of representatives of all the Institute's commissions that are carrying out some action plan for the issues they deal with, and thus have a global view of the improvement plans that exist open to the Institute.
Research advocate (ombudsman)
THEombudsman or Ombudsman acts as an independent agent when there is a suspicion of scientific misconduct or professional conflicts. He is a duly qualified figure with great personal integrity, who is accessible to all the research staff of the Institute. Its action is always carried out under parameters of strict discretion and confidentiality, so that the information is never disclosed to the governing bodies or management of the I3PT. Also, theombudsman has the capacity to propose non-binding solutions, which must be approved by the governing bodies of the institution, but also has the power to act ex officio.

Purpose, functions and activities
According to the statutes, the purposes, functions and activities of the I3PT are:
Article 5. Foundational Purposes
The purpose of the Foundation is to promote, develop, transfer, manage and disseminate research, scientific and technological knowledge, innovation, teaching and training in the field of life sciences and health. To this end, it must promote and strengthen relations and the exchange of knowledge between researchers and research groups that belong to the various centers and entities in the biomedical field, which act mainly in the environment of the Parc Taulí Health Corporation (CSPT), and promote collaboration with other institutions and entities, prioritizing the realization of joint projects; must raise funds to finance research and innovation activities of interest to the aforementioned centers and devices; and must manage the resources assigned to the investigation entrusted to it by the various institutions and entities that are part of it.
Article 6. Activities
6.1.- For the achievement of the foundational purposes, the Foundation carries out the activities that the Taulí of Trustees deems necessary directly and/or in collaboration with other entities, institutions or people, in accordance with what is established in the regulations on foundations and through of the legal instruments that, in each case, correspond. Specifically, in order to carry out the founding purpose, the Foundation carries out the activities that, without exhaustive intention, are listed below:
a) Identify and promote the major areas of research and innovation in the biomedical field of the geographical environment of the CSPT, promoting the closest interrelationship between basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological and health services research.
b) Stimulate and manage interdisciplinary collaboration between the different research groups around the CSPT, and with other institutions and entities, public or private, for the development of projects in the field of the sciences life and health.
c) Facilitate the financing, administration and management of the research process that is carried out in the environment of the CSPT, and in the institutions and entities that are part of the Foundation, through the promotion of financing programs, the obtaining and application of the funds obtained by the Foundation and the organization of its physical, human and economic resources.
d) Produce and disseminate scientific advances to society, as well as manage legal protection and the transfer of technology and knowledge in the productive sector, and promote, support and, where appropriate, participate in companies that are created in the environment of the CSPT with this objective.
e) Promote and manage initiatives that improve the transfer and valorization of research results including, among others, the promotion and management of scientific and technological infrastructures in the field of biomedical research, including science parks and/ or technological, dust or any other modality and represent them in front of third parties, as well such as participation in specific instruments or other bodies with these objectives.
These infrastructures can incorporate spaces for the development of activities by research groups and companies in the biotechnology sector.
f) Manage facilities in the biomedical field, such as biobanks, services and other assignments entrusted to it by the CSPT or the institutions or entities that form part of the Foundation, as part of its activities.
g) Promote teaching and the specialized training of researchers, technicians, health personnel and teachers.
h) Grant scholarships, bursaries and other financial aid for carrying out research work and stays in laboratories of other national and foreign centers and institutions, and for the acquisition and maintenance of equipment and research tool.
i) Provide research support services in the interest of researchers and research groups from the different member centers and institutions, and manage incentive systems for research activities that are carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations.
j) Ensure compliance with ethical imperatives in relation to research.
k) Participate in Catalonia's biomedical research and innovation coordination policies, research projects and national and international networks of excellence.
l) In general, any other related to the management or provision of services and human, scientific, technical and economic resources to support research and innovation.
6.2.- This list of activities is merely indicative and not limiting. At any time, the Taulí of Trustees can agree to carry out other activities that it considers appropriate for the purposes of achieving the foundational objectives.
6.3.- In accordance and with the requirements established in articles 333-4 and 333-5 of the Catalan Civil Code, the aforementioned activities may be carried out by the Foundation directly or indirectly and, in particular, through the constitution or participation in commercial entities that limit the liability of the partners, either as a sole partner or with other partners.
6.4. - For the development of its activities, the Foundation can raise funds, even by resorting to external financing, and sign collaboration agreements or contracts with natural persons or with other public or private entities and carry out any type of events or legal business admitted by Law.
6.5.- The activities related to the founding purposes must be carried out according to the rules that specifically regulate them, by obtaining, where appropriate, the relevant permits or licenses.
