MEF Program Summary

The specialty

Gynecology and Obstetrics is a specialty with extensive and diverse content that includes:

  • The physiology of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium, as well as its pathology and treatment.
  • The physiology, pathology and treatment corresponding to the organs that make up the female genital tract and the breast.
  • The physiological and pathological phenomena of human reproduction and its treatment.
  • The preventive, psychic and social aspects that are necessarily related to the previous sections.

Service Description

The Gynecology and Obstetrics Service is part of the Women's and Child Care Center (CADI), which also includes the Pediatric Medicine Service and the Pediatric Surgery Service.

We are a Level III A Reference Service for a large area of ​​population in central and northern Catalonia.

Gynecology and Obstetrics professionals work as a team to provide comprehensive care to women at all stages of their lives. However, given the complexity of the knowledge, it is necessary to divide the different subspecialties to improve the quality of patient care, based on the specialization of the knowledge of the patients.

The Parc Taulí Gynecology and Obstetrics Service has a hospital floor with a total of 23 beds for obstetric hospitalization and gynecological emergencies and beds for hospitalization for gynecological surgical patients in the surgical hospital floor according to demand

The Delivery Room has 2 emergency examination boxes, 1 fetal monitoring room, 6 dilation rooms - delivery, 2 operating rooms and 1 Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (URPA).

The outpatient activity takes place in the outpatient clinics located on the 2nd floor of the same building, with 9 boxes, one of which is equipped for minor and major outpatient surgery.

There are 22 surgical sessions in the Central Surgical Block and 7 surgical sessions in the Outpatient Surgical Center every 4 weeks. Likewise, surgical procedures are carried out under the CMA regime daily in the operating theater of the Obstetric Block.

Our team is made up of 26 specialist doctors, 10 resident doctors, 37 midwives, together with the nursing teams working in the different Units
