Prevention of risk factors

Health prevention is understood as those measures aimed at preventing and stopping the progression of a disease, as well as alleviating or attenuating its effects once it has begun. Prevention must be based on knowledge of the natural history of the disease or how a pathological process evolves when there is no medical intervention.

Disease prevention includes measures to reduce the presence of risk factors for the disease, to prevent its progress and reduce the consequences once it has been established.

It is advisable to control different risk factors such as:

  • Follow a healthy diet.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Get moving.
  • Limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Control stress.
  • No smoking.

Eat foods rich in vitamin B (bread, brown rice).

If necessary, take some medication — first consult with healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses or pharmacists) — to help you overcome tobacco dependence.
