{"id":537,"date":"2019-11-25T17:04:47","date_gmt":"2019-11-25T15:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tauli.cat\/institut\/?p=537"},"modified":"2019-11-25T17:04:58","modified_gmt":"2019-11-25T15:04:58","slug":"parc-tauli-present-virtual-reality-initiatives-in-jornades-rdi-organised-by-tic-salut-social","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tauli.cat\/institut\/actualitat\/noticies\/2019\/11\/parc-tauli-present-virtual-reality-initiatives-in-jornades-rdi-organised-by-tic-salut-social\/","title":{"rendered":"Parc Taul\u00ed present Virtual Reality initiatives in Jornades R+D+I organised by TIC Salut Social","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last Wednesday 23th, we attended the Jornades R+D+I TIC Salut Social on Virtual Reality (VR) (take a look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/mon.uvic.cat\/jornadesrdi\/programa-2019\/\">programme<\/a>). <strong>Guillem Navarra<\/strong>, neuropsychologist researcher, and <strong>L\u00eddia Mart\u00ed<\/strong>, ICU nurse, were invited to present their projects using VR to improve both patient experience and recover:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ENRIC: Early Neurocognitive Rehabilitation in Intensive Care.<\/li>\n<li>Using immersive VR as a relaxing method in an ICU environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pere Millet<\/strong>, member of the IT department of Parc Taul\u00ed, also presented a new area of work to develop VR projects in the hospital.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"eut-element\"><p>Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (VA) are no more considered an \u00abemerging\u00bb technology, but they are established as a mature one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Parc Taul\u00ed is part of the Focus Group on Virtual Reality impulsed by TIC Salut Social in order to support hospital initiatives in this field. They have identified more than 50 VR projects in Catalan hospitals classified into 4 main scopes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mental health<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitation<\/li>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<li>Distraction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the session, health professionals presented their experiences using VR and AR in the clinical practice: from surgery preparation to anxiety reduction in patients.<\/p>\n<p>To cite some VR initiatives, Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Hospital presented an improvement of anorexia or ADHD treatments by using VR, or CSI have implemented VR for treating stroke patients both at hospital and at home.\u00a0 Also, Vall Hebr\u00f3n Hospital is using VR to treat acute pain in patients with burns, and Hospital Cl\u00ednic implements VR to treat patient pre-surgery anxiety before colorectal surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Almost all these projects were possible thanks to the collaboration of healthcare professionals, Universities and startups. While some of the projects were implemented in the hospital, others were transferred to the market through licensing or spin-off creation.<\/p>\n<p>The session was also a great opportunity to meet several tech startups that are collaborating with Catalan hospitals and universities to improve VR impact on healthcare centers.<\/p>\n<h4>Are you familiar with the differences among these technologies?<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Virtual Reality<\/strong> is a fully immersive experience, replacing the whole environment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Augmented Reality<\/strong> overlays digital information on real-world elements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mixed Reality<\/strong> brings together real-world and digital elements, and also includes the interaction with these elements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false,"gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"html"}]},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last Wednesday 23th, we attended the Jornades R+D+I TIC Salut Social on Virtual Reality (VR) (take a look at the programme).
