What is home hospitalization

Hospitalization at Home (HAD) is a form of care specific to the hospital sector that takes responsibility for it, and which is conceived as an alternative to conventional hospitalization. Her main function and avoid admission or reduce patients' stay in hospital.

The HAD dispenses at the patient's home a set of hospital-level medical and nursing care, for a limited period of time, with the same criteria of quality and quantity, thus allowing a more efficient management of hospital beds. If the service is not available, the patient must remain admitted to the hospital. This aspect clearly differentiates it from other community services. The hospital maintains clinical, logistical and legal responsibility.

This care modality was an emergent incentive a few years ago, which has demonstrated to this day, through scientific evidence, positive results in terms of mortality, re-income, costs and satisfaction of both patients and relatives.
