The Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economy and Finance, Oriol Junqueras, the Minister of Health, Antoni Comín, and the Mayor of Sabadell, Juli Fernàndez, paid a visit to Parc Taulí this morning, where they presided over the presentation of the new SEM medical helicopters at the heliport which, from next February, will be the SEM's Barcelona territorial base. Afterwards, they visited the new facilities of the Parc Taulí Teaching Unit, and the councilor and the mayor also visited the Emergency Service.

At 10 in the morning, Junqueres, Comín and Fernàndez were received at Parc Taulí by the top SEM representatives: its president and director of CatSalut, David Elvira, the vice-president, Jaume Estany and its new manager, Joan Sala. The delegation of the reception was also led by the president of the Parc Taulí, Modesto Custodio, the general director, Joan Martí, and the councilor of Health of the Sabadell City Council, Ramon Vidal, among other directors and representatives of the CatSalut, municipal and the Parc Taulí.

New territorial base of the SEM from next February

At half past ten in the morning, it will land at the Parc Taulí heliport, which will be the first of the four medical helicopters with which the SEM renews its air fleet, to provide territorial coverage throughout Catalonia within a radius of 20 minutes.

The SEM has 4 medical helicopters, strategically located at four points in Catalonia. In Girona, at the Doctor Josep Trueta University Hospital; in Lleida, at the base of the SEM of Tremp; in Tarragona, at the base of the SEM of Móra d'Ebre; and in Barcelona, in Sant Cugat del Vallès, an air base that will soon change location to move to the Parc Taulí in Sabadell.

Just this week, the necessary adaptation works have begun at Parc Taulí for the heliport, which, from February, will host the new territorial base of Barcelona of the SEM. The works consist of the adaptation of the heliport itself and the construction of a hangar.

In the course of the presentation of the helicopters, and beyond all the technological improvements provided by the new fleet, it has also been highlighted the fact that it is the reference hospitals of the heliports that provide the care professionals - medical team / ssa and nurse / a-. In fact, Parc Taulí has been the hospital that provided the healthcare team to the SEM base in Barcelona for years, even though it was in Sant Cugat.

Visit to the new spaces of the Teaching Unit

Once the new SEM aircraft was presented, the entourage led by politicians and managers moved to the Parc Taulí Teaching Unit, where they were received by the rector of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Margarita Arboix, and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Manuel Armengol.

With the help of the coordinator of the Teaching Unit, and vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Salvador Navarro, they held a very relaxed meeting and took a guided tour of the new facilities located in the VII Centenary building. Throughout the visit, different groups of students wanted to take the opportunity to exchange some endearing words with the visiting politicians, with whom they even took a selfie.

The academic inauguration of the Teaching Unit, however, will take place next Monday, November 28, at 9.30 am, in Classroom 2 of the new spaces.

Visit to the Emergency Service

The councilor and the mayor wanted to complete their stay at Parc Taulí with a visit to the Emergency Service. In the hands of the executive director of Sabadell Hospital, Cristina Carod, the director of Nursing, Carme Díaz, the coordinator of the Service, Juli Font, and the manager of Nursing in the field, Pepi Ramírez, the entourage has made a tour of the different areas of the Service, in the course of which the need for actions to improve the comfort and drainage of patients has become clear.

Just this afternoon, the Municipal Plenary Session of Sabadell City Council approved the budget item of 4 million euros that it plans to advance in order to make the expansion of two new plants - 2.136 square meters - for the Service of Emergencies.
