The Autonomous University of Barcelona and Parc Taulí have today inaugurated the new spaces of the Teaching Unit of the Faculty of Medicine. The 225 students of the 2016-2017 academic year have launched new facilities, which double the space of their facilities and significantly improve the comfort of the entire educational community.
The new Teaching Unit currently occupies about 2.000 square meters distributed between the buildings Victòria Eugènia (where until now all the spaces were concentrated) and the VII Centenario (the building enabled for the extension). The works have cost 1,2 million euros financed by the UAB.
The inaugural event was attended by various university, health and local authorities. Margarita Arboix, rector of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, thanked the work done by all the people who have collaborated to make this expansion a reality and stated that "The Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine must always work hand in hand". Juli Fernàndez, Mayor of Sabadell, thanked both the Parc Taulí Consortium and the UAB for their efforts: “the hospital is one of the biggest opportunities in our city ”, said before defending that Sabadell "wants to be a reference of the UAB".
For its part, Josep Pallarès, General Director of Universities, has explained that the inaugurations "They are important and more so in these difficult times", but more important is "the quality of the content that will be generated". Modesto Custodio, president of the Parc Taulí Health Corporation, congratulated on the academic results of the first graduate promotions: "The good results of our students in the MIR tests are good proof of the quality of the Parc Taulí Teaching Unit of the UAB Faculty of Medicine". Finally, Joan Puigdollers, manager of the Metropolitan Area of the Health Region of Barcelona, has defended networking: "Seeking synergies between universities, companies, municipalities, government is essential to improve the knowledge society".
