The ISCP is a scientific society, headquartered in Geneva and London, covering more than 40 countries on five continents. Its mission is to promote and facilitate strategies to improve cardiovascular health
Until his appointment as president last January, Dr. Martínez has held the position of President-elect and has previously been a member of its board of directors. His duties as president of l'ISCP, which will run until the end of 2018, are the coordination and promotion of all activities and publications of the company.
Scientists and doctors from various specialties with a special interest in cardiovascular pharmacology collaborate at the ISCP. The mission of the society is to promote education, research and best clinical practice on the pharmacological treatment of cardiovascular pathologies. The organization organizes courses and conferences at the national level and an annual world congress, and publishes specialized books. For many years, the official journals have been the Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy and the European Cardiology Review.
The central goal of this scientific society is the prevention of cardiovascular disease and the improvement of treatment, clinical outcome and patient well-being, and represents a forum for dialogue between cardiologists, pharmacologists, physicists, pharmacists and scientists with an interest. in cardiovascular pharmacology, as well as health professionals in general.
The ISCP promotes cooperation between societies around the world, sponsors international meetings, and provides support to scientists around the world. The next annual international congress of the society will take place in Barcelona on 24 and 25 August at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, with the assistance of the best international specialists in physiology, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The annual international convention is usually held in the president's home country. The last three have been in Australia, Argentina and China. This year, it will be held in Barcelona, under the coordination of Dr. Martinez, and in 2018 in Japan.
Dr. Antoni Martínez Rubio has been director of the Cardiology Service at Parc Taulí since 2003, is a cardiologist and internist, as well as a doctor from the University of Münster in Germany. He has participated in many international evaluation and research organizations, such as the European Commission in Brussels, being a scientific evaluator in cardiology and has given lectures by invitation to many countries around the world.
