Last Friday, January 26, the deployment of the Program was presented to the City Council of Barberà del Vallès.

The program is aimed at all men and women aged 50 to 69 years and offers the possibility of performing, every two years and free of charge, a very simple test to detect cancer or precancerous lesion and its deployment is done. in collaboration with pharmacies, hospitals and primary care teams in the area. In the case of Barberà del Vallès, the target population, that is, men and women aged 50 to 69, is 7.638 people. In the coming months, people in this age group will receive a letter explaining how the test works.

The Technical Office of Cancer Screening of Parc Taulí manages the program in the Vallès Occidental which is responsible for the management, monitoring and evaluation of screening throughout the territory. In October 2015, the population program for the early detection of colon and rectal cancer of the Department of Health in the Vallès Occidental was launched. The target population of the Program in the Vallès Occidental - men and women between 50 and 69 years old - is close to 200.000 inhabitants, who are invited by letter every two years, following a calendar by municipality or area that can be consulted at Program website. Colorectal cancer can develop for months without causing discomfort and often, when these appear, the disease is already quite advanced. Early detection programs allow the disease to be detected in the early stages, making it easier to treat and increasing the chances of a cure.

The presentation of the program held at the Barberà del Vallès City Council was attended by the Mayor, Sílvia Fuster; the director of the health sectors of the Baix Llobregat Nord and Vallès Occidental, Joan Parellada; the coordinator of the Technical Screening Office, Marisa Baré and the executive director of Sabadell Hospital, Cristina Carod.

On the other hand, next Tuesday, February 7, will take place the event of Presentation of health policies in Barberà. Dra. Baré will make a presentation on the Colon and Rectal Cancer Early Detection Program. The event is open to the public and will begin at 18.30 pm in Room B of the Teatre Cooperativa de Barberà.
