The origins of Nordic walking go back to the 30s in the Nordic countries when cross-country skiers introduced ski poles to their off-season training, in order not to lose their physical level in the face of the snow season. In 2000, the International Nordic Walking Association was created in Finland, which expanded to other European countries, and from 2006 it reached Catalan health centers, using Nordic walking as a health promotion activity.
