Next Tuesday, 25 February, the eighth edition of the Cafés Científics de Sabadell will start with the talk 'Managing chronic pain', given by Dr. Jenaro way, specialist in Anesthesiology Patients. The event will take place at 7 pm at the facilities of the Unió Excursionista de Sabadell (UES).
The Cafès Científics de Sabadell are an initiative organized by eight entities in the city that are dedicated to research and its dissemination and which aims to put the general public in contact with experts from different fields of science. In this eighth edition, chronic pain, particle physics and the importance of human biodiversity will address some of the issues that cycle throughout the year and ending in November.
The Catalan Institute of Paleontology Miquel Crusafont (ICP), the Association for the Defense and Study of Nature (ADENC), the Astronomical Association of Sabadell, the Bosch i Cardellach Foundation, the Parc Taulí Health Corporation, La Ruda friends Can God for organic farming and Union Hiker of Sabadell (UES) and the Academy of Medical Sciences begin this February the eighth edition of Scientific Coffees of Sabadell. The public success of previous editions and the desire to consolidate this cycle in the city has led the organizing entities to repeat the initiative one more year.
The aim of the Scientific Coffees is to provide citizens the opportunity to talk in a relaxed atmosphere and exchange views on scientific issues with an expert reference. The space chosen for this conversation between science and society is the bar on the premises of the Unió Excursionista on Carrer de la Salut. With coffee, a glass of wine or a soft drink, the spirit of this initiative is to encourage scientific debate in the context of the challenges of modern society and the individual interests of the participants.
From February to November, Tuesday in the month at 7 pm, each of the organizers who do research in science, or have as one of its objectives to promote knowledge of science and its results, start a conversation about a current topic. The guest speaker will briefly outline the issue and establish a dialogue with the audience can ask questions and reflections of their own.
The Scientific Cafés are a science outreach event held in many parts of the world that aims to stimulate conversation and critical thinking, debate, interact and dialogue outside the academic environment.
