The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) has joined the ISCIII Biobank and Biomodels Platform (PISCIIIBB) of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III with the aim of improving the visibility of the Biobank of Parc Taulí at the state level and thus boost and increase their activity.
The purpose of this platform is to improve the competitiveness of Spanish biomedical and health research providing research staff with centralized access to collections and data associated with the samples. Its services also include organoids, animal models and 3D printing in order to increase scientific and technological resources in biomedical research.
As explained by the coordinator of Scientific Platforms and the Biobank of Parc Taulí, Néstor Albiñana, “the adhesion of the Biobank to this initiative will allow us offer our catalog of biological samples online and to be able to receive requests for the transfer of samples from both national and international research groups ”.
El Biobank of the Institute was created in 2019 with the goal of centralize collections of biological samples used in research of the research staff of Parc Taulí. Its mission is to develop as a supplier of biological material for research with the guarantee that the biological material and the associated clinical data are of high quality. Since December 2020, the Biobank has the formal authorization of the Department of Health as a platform at the service of research and available to all research staff who need it.
